A KIND OF PARADISE
Brekke shows 11 pieces in stoneware and porcelain.
The point of departure for these works is her interest in the perceptible experiences when it comes to seasons and other cycles in life; summer, autumn, winter and spring. Taste, smells and tactility, the process of fruit blossom until you can pick the fruit and so on.
This manifest in pieces that are plates for fruits, springing fountains, flowering branches and furthermore. Brekke use the effect of trompe l’oeil, known from baroque paintings, that is supposed to fool the perception of the eye.
The work brings an element of play. Big parts of her artistic work is casts of forms that children play with in the sandpit. She uses these further on in new constellations, giving them all individual characters.
